International Foundations in CPD Program

The past year marked the beginning of an innovative series entitled International Foundations in CPD certificate program; a series of 10 interactive webinars. The program, which launched in 2015, is an exciting new initiative designed for professionals working within the field of CPD. It provides fundamental theory and skill training needed to ensure effectiveness and success of continuing professional development activities. Its focus is on practical issues commonly experienced in the design, development and implementation of continuing health education. As a webinar-based program, participants will have an opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field and share their experiences with an international audience of learners.

The first iteration attracted 12 participants from across Canada, the Middle East and Portugal – all professionals with an interest in developing their knowledge and skills related to CPD. Ms. Anita Arella, Director, Faculty Affairs and CEPD at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, commented “Participation in the CPD Foundations Course has supported my professional development, served as a catalyst to create positive change in the functioning of our NOSM CEPD Office and positioned the Office to better meet the CPD needs of northern allied health professionals.”

The 2016/2017 program has attracted 24 professionals with another program being custom designed for 25 CPD program directors and developers at the University of Alberta in 2017.
