The Leadership Development for Anatomic Pathology is an innovative program developed through collaborative efforts between Department of Anatomic Pathology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences and the Sunnybrook Leadership Institute. The program is designed to build an interprofessional community of practice in the workplace with focus on Anatomic Pathology. It is composed of three core leadership programs (Core Leadership Program, Emergent Leadership Program and Senior Leadership Program). The Core Leadership Program target audience is everyone on the team including physicians, laboratory managers and supervisors, pathology assistants, medical laboratory technologists and assistants, administrative team and clerical staff with a total of approximately 85 members.
Twenty-four members have completed the Core Leadership Program with focus on communication, emotional intelligence, crucial conversation, healthy and respectful workplace, system change management and effective collaborative teams. The program received positive feedback such as “very helpful, well-structured and prepared”. We are going through the evaluation results and feedback.
The second Emergent Leadership Program is under development with an anticipated start date of January 2017.
